The city of Martuni, Artsakh was the focus of military operations. The first place to be attacked in Martini was Alexander Melkumyan’s house.
“My wife was lying down here. My 1-year-old son was lying down here. My mother-in-law died, and so did my 7-year-old child. My wife and neighbor’s wife were wounded,” Alexander said, showing his backyard. He added that he wished to bring water home, but they attacked four more times after that.

In the beginning, they thought it was the everyday fire, and thus did not pay attention. “Then there was a loud boom. I turned around and ran home. I saw that there was smoke and everyone was lying down.”
The village was also attacked on the morning of September 28th. “I am in Stepanakert now. My wife has been wounded. I came back to get some clothes. Then, I will go and be by her side.”
