EU NEIGHBOURS. On 29 September, the Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) in the Eastern partner countries and their EU peers met with high-level EU officials to discuss Eastern Partnership cooperation, its priorities and future plans.

The YEAs had the chance to meet top diplomats and officials from the EU: Jovita Neliupšienė, Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania; Jerzy Pomianowski, executive director of the European Endowment for Democracy; Anna Westerholm, Swedish Ambassador for the Eastern Partnership; and Marina Kaljurand, Estonian Member of the European Parliament.

The speakers’ presentations were followed by lively discussions in various topics related to Eastern Partnership initiative.

In total, around 150 people attended the third expert training  sessionorganised by the ‘EU NEIGHBOURS east’ project. The project is funded by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations.

The EU is partnering with young people in the Eastern partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine) to raise awareness about the EU’s role in the region, help develop youth policies and provide a better future. The YEA initiative is a vibrant European network, connecting active young people in the Eastern partner countries and the EU. The initiative was launched in June 2016 as part of the ‘EU NEIGHBOURS east’ project, within the EU programme ‘OPEN Neighbourhood’.
