Artsakh is no longer a local issue that can be ignored: Samvel Martirosyan

September 30,2020 15:59

Azerbaijanis have begun to actively share videos created by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense that show images of destroyed military equipment and dead soldiers. Information security expert Samvel Martirosyan spoke about this at the Henaran press club. According to him, these videos are being shared with the intention of causing psychological pressure. He said that it is worth reporting these posts, which will at least allow them to decrease in quantity.

Regarding misinformation spread about the conflict, the expert noticed that misinformation is typically being spread by Azerbaijan via Armenian pages that they had hacked.

According to him, they are also trying to use unknown sources to spread misinformation. For example, they are sharing information on Telegram and then spreading that in the news. Voice messages are also being spread around social media, one of the most popular being the one about radiation. “It’s absurd, but people are scared.”

Martirosyan said that the participation of Islamists is spreading across the world, which is changing people’s minds about what is happening. Artsakh is no longer a local issue that can be ignored. According to Martirosyan, this is a place where the enemies of the civilized world were found. “There was a lot of serious talk about this in the media yesterday. Turkey’s active participation in the conflict dramatically changes the approach towards the conflict. It causes involvement. For example, there are many large camps participating on Twitter. If the information conflict during the April War was between Armenia and Azerbaijan, now Turks and Pakistanis are supporting Azerbaijan, and Greeks and Indians are supporting Armenia.”
