Harutyun Saroyan, a 27-year-old military captain from the Pokr Mantash village of Shirak who died during the battles in Artsakh, had recently gotten married two months ago. He had dedicated his life to the Motherland a long time ago. He had performed heroic deeds both now and during the April War of 2016. The head of the Pokr Mantash community, Zhirayr Hakobyan, spoke about this in an interview with Aravot Daily.
Hakobyan said that he is proud to come from the same village as the hero. The entire village has been speaking about Captain Saroyan’s heroism since the April War.
“He was a brave captain who always stood by his soldiers both during the April War and now. He was always known for his heroism. He was his parents’ only son. He had a sister and was young when his mother died. He got married two months ago. The villagers love and respect him. He studied at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Institute for four years and then went to serve in Artsakh. Harutyun immediately dedicated himself to the Motherland. We grieve, but we are also very proud to have known him,” the village leader said.
