Armen Baibourtian: ‘Due to political issues surrounding Artsakh’s status, international organizations refused to provide humanitarian aid to Artsakh’s Armenians’

October 22,2020 15:05

The Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles, Ambassador Armen Baibourtian, presented the current situation in the Republic of Artsakh as a result of the Turkish-Azerbaijani-terrorist war during a press conference.

“The large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan and Turkey against Artsakh and Armenia using internationally condemned measures continues. War crimes also continue. The hostilities have been covered in the media in detail in Armenia and Artsakh. I only want to say the following: a serious humanitarian crisis has ensued as a result of the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan and Turkey. Many buildings, facilities, cities, and villages were destroyed and damaged in Artsakh. Individual communities were also attacked in Armenia. There is a small nuance to this humanitarian crisis. The people of Artsakh, the Armenians of Artsakh, are deprived of the opportunity to receive humanitarian aid from international organizations. Due to the political issues surrounding Artsakh’s status, international organizations refused and refuse to provide humanitarian aid to Artsakh’s Armenians, who are in an extremely difficult situation. The strange thing about the entire situation is the fact that there are people living in Artsakh, there is an entire population of people living there in need of humanitarian assistance. However, international organizations and countries do not have the ability to provide that assistance to the people of Artsakh, including children, women, and the elderly,” the Consul General said.
