Women and children from Artsakh protested in front of the European Union delegation office in Armenia, demanding the recognition of Artsakh and the condemnation of international terrorism committed by Aliyev and Erdogan. The coordinators of the protest emphasized that the EU must sanction Turkey and Azerbaijan.
“Over the years, the inactivity of such organizations has destroyed us and our rights in our own historical lands. That is why we decided to not remain silent and remind the European Union that the Artsakh issue should not be considered within the framework of territorial integrity. Let them come and see how Artsakh and the Armenians are being subject to genocide,” said Liana Adamyan, a member of the Artsakh Women’s Initiative Group.
The protesters said that tens of thousands of Armenians were forced to evacuate their homes in Artsakh. They were deprived of education and other rights. Meanwhile, international organizations are not even providing humanitarian aid. “Humanitarian aid is being provided thanks to the efforts of the Armenian community, but the EU and other organizations have exhausted their role, missed the opportunity for mutual dialogue, and did not make use of their potential,” Liana Adamyan said.
Near the entrance, she was offered to speak with a security employee named Gohar over the phone. After she spoke, Liana Adamyan told reporters, “She said that there is no one in the office besides security due to the pandemic. I told her that we came from different cities, and some of us do not even have anywhere to stay. Yes, we are being provided support, but half of these people are bedridden with the coronavirus. The financial resources are being depleted. She said that they are unable to offer us any alternative; we can either give them a letter now or come as three people tomorrow. If we receive the same treatment tomorrow, we will come with more people. We promise.”
