The King of Bahrain Hamad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa responded to the letter of the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian. On September 30, President Sarkissian sent a letter to the King of Bahrain and some other leaders of Arab states and informed them on the war actions instigated by Azerbaijan on the border with Armenia and contact line with Nagorno Karabakh. He appealed to their ties and authority on the international arena to stop the bloodshed and human suffering.
In his letter the King of Bahrain noted in particular: “I express gratitude to Your Excellency for your appeal to make utmost efforts and join in international efforts to establish ceasefire and to stop bloodshed between the two countries and Nagorno Karabakh. I also share the concern that this painful conflict can become a destructive and long-term war in this important and sensitive region which will claim civilian lives and will become a threat for the international security at large.
We share Your Excellency’s opinion that this conflict has no military solution, and negotiations and political settlement are most conducive to achieve mutual understanding, to prevent losses, as well as to avoid a humanitarian crisis.”
The King noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain is coordinating its efforts with the Secretariat General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf which on behalf of the GCC countries has issued a statement stressing the importance of the immediate establishment of ceasefire and appealing also to the Security Council to carry out its responsibilities on establishing international peace and security.
