“Your dear NATO member state is bombing a maternity hospital in Stepanakert. How can you live in this world when you’re supposed to be helping women and children, but instead decide to do nothing? Leave our country! You’re to blame for this! Leave! Shame on you!” A group of citizens carried out protests outside of the UN Office in Armenia in support of Artsakh.
The protesters were demanding a meeting with representatives of the UN Office, but the security guards said that the employees did not come to work. The only people present are tech workers and janitors.
“Eighteen-year-old soldiers made you look bad. They proved that you are doing nothing against terrorism. Eighteen-year-olds are demanding peace from the world,” the protesters said. They were also frequently chanting, “Recognize Artsakh!”
“An entire population is being ignored in Artsakh. The Turk-Azerbaijani army is using white phosphorous, which is a war crime. Instead of responding to that and sending that information to the Grand Assembly, the UN Office employees simply posted on their Facebook pages. Even more, their posts were private so that only their friends could see them. It’s a shame that you’re in our country and you choose to ignore all of this. They are using phosphorous in Artsakh, which will cause an environmental disaster. The UN is not doing anything, but it is quaking for Azerbaijan’s oil wells. They are torturing Armenian prisoners; why is the UN silent? The dead bodies that are returned to the Armenian side are mostly mutilated. Who is going to give us an answer? We are going to come to this office every day, and we will remind you that your silence is the crime of the century. You are accomplices to this crime by Azerbaijan with your silence,” the protesters said.

They blocked the office entrances and exits and decided not to leave until someone met with them. Two of the office employees tried to leave, but the protesters created a wall near the exit and stood by the gates in an attempt to not let them leave. The protesters said that there are many employees in the office; they were simply lied to and told that no one is there.
With the help of a piece of wood, the protesters lowered the UN flag that was inside the gates. They were singing, “The Turkish flag fell to the ground.” The police officers warned them not to lower the flag, but the protesters did not listen. “Take us to the police station. We’re not scared. If anyone dares to ask why peaceful protesters lowered the UN flag, tell them that we did it because of the UN’s silence towards terrorists’ murder of Armenian soldiers. They have nothing to do in Armenia.”
The protesters left the office, and agreed to come back again on Tuesday at 11 AM wearing black. They will be carrying out a “funeral” of the UN Office. They even promised to bring caskets.
