‘We highly appreciate the courageous step taken by the Dutch legislature, which demonstrates their commitment to fundamental human rights and freedoms and the idea of justice’

Comment by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh Masis Mayilian on the resolutions recently adopted by the Parliament of the Netherlands

We welcome the adoption of resolutions by the Dutch Parliament on November 17 in which the Parliament calls on the country’s Government to pursue individual sanctions at the EU level against Azerbaijan’s President and Vice President, President of Turkey and others responsible for committing war crimes and atrocities in Artsakh. The Parliament also calls on the EU member states to declare moratoriums on arm sales to Turkey for its complicity in the aggression against Artsakh.

We highly appreciate the courageous step taken by the Dutch legislature, which demonstrates their commitment to fundamental human rights and freedoms and the idea of justice, as well as their decisive stance towards the inadmissibility of crimes against humanity, the necessity of their prevention and condemnation. We hope that this step of the Dutch Parliament will be a precedent for similar decisions in other countries.

It should be noted that during the aggression launched against the Republic of Artsakh the Foreign Ministry of Artsakh has repeatedly issued statements calling on the international community to impose individual sanctions on Azerbaijan’s top leadership as a means of restraining Аzerbaijan and holding it accountable.
