‘It is unacceptable to serve the enemy Amaras on a platter’: Advisor to the Minister of Education, Science, and Culture of Artsakh

November 20,2020 19:00

Aravot Daily asked the cultural advisor to the Minister of Education, Science, and Culture of Artsakh, Melania Balayan, whether or not the Facebook post shared by the Machkalashen village page regarding Amaras Monastery remaining under Artsakh’s control is true.

“Discussions are being held about Amaras. Those are political issues of which I am not aware. If I knew, I would never have avoided providing commentary,” Balayan said.

“We face bad “surprises” every day. For example, we did not know that some villages in Martakert needed to be conceded to the enemy, nor did we know about Tigranakert being neutral territory. I am given bad news every day. In any case, we need to wait and see what will happen. Of course, waiting is never good, and we need to voice our complaints so that they understand how unacceptable it is to not only serve the enemy Amaras on a silver platter, but our other territories, too. These are issues that we need to take seriously. In any case, I am unable to provide specific commentary on Amaras’ fate,” the advisor said.
