‘I have seen how they conspired to hand over Artsakh’: Deputy Head of Avan Administrative District

November 24,2020 22:30

“When I say that some people are elected in Artsakh, go to Artsakh. I do not see any threat there. When I say press charges and confiscate property, I do not see any threat. When Yuri Khachaturov’s son, Igor, says that the Prime Minister is a traitor who sold Shushi, I tell him, ‘you know, brother, your father sold Shushi for money by eating soldiers’ food,’ and there are criminal cases against Yuri Khachaturov for financial reasons. The people who say that Artsakh was sold should look at their own castles. I do not think that they would have such financial abilities with a general’s salary,” the deputy head of the Avan administrative district, Nerses Poghosyan, told Aravot Daily in an interview regarding his active political posts and commentary on Facebook.

Nerses Poghosyan

Regarding insults against representatives of the former regime, he did not believe that such statements are insulting. “The former Minister of Justice, Arpine Hovhannisyan, told the parents of prisoners of war to write to her because she will help them. Arpine, you should have helped them before they met with the Prime Minister. It’s disgusting how she didn’t tell them to write to her for help over the past 40 days, but she only begins to speak when the government is trying to avoid collapse and take the necessary steps.”

Poghosyan said that he was at the frontlines from September 27th until November 2nd, and he did not see the child of any oligarch or official. When asked if he saw Nikol Pashinyan’s son, Nerses Poghosyan said that Pashinyan’s son was at another front, and there are many facts available to prove that. “But I have seen how they conspired to hand over Artsakh.”

When asked who conspired to hand it over, Poghosyan said that he didn’t know. “I do not know who handed it over. Conduct an investigation and find out how the Chanakhci village fell, or Karagulakh, which we had retaken. When they were saying that Shushi fell, I was already in Yerevan. I had friends in combat who were fighting in Shushi. I was able to get into contact with them. There were battles at the gates of Shushi on November 9th, but it was under our control. However, many generals were saying that Shushi fell. I wrote that the former Karabakh clan is preparing to play some game, and we already know what game they played. I hope that everyone responsible will pay for it. Shushi was only captured once in its history. Shushi is an impregnable fortress. It would have been impossible to capture if treason wasn’t committed.”

We asked Nerses Poghosyan whom he believes committed treason as only Nikol Pashinyan is currently being accused of treason since he signed the trilateral agreement. In response, Poghosyan did not give specifics. “We have seen the people who are out in the streets and why they are conducting protests. They’re gathering a couple hundred people and shouting, ‘Leave, Nikol.’ People are gathering and making speeches, but those same people have million-dollar homes and restaurants. They could have supported the government in a serious manner when they saw that the situation was dire. We were also defending their billion-dollar fortunes when we were fighting. But none of their relatives were at the frontlines.”

Aravot Daily would like to clarify that some of the political parties that organized the protests, including the ARF, Hayrenik, and others, sent several battalions to fight.

He also said that he does not think that Nikol Pashinyan is a defeated leader. “The war has not ended yet. This is merely the beginning. We only lost after the revolution when we became velvet.”
