On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the EU Delegation to Chile launched the campaign “Raise your voice clear and strong “ (Alza Tu Voz Clara y Fuerte) to raise awareness about violence against women and girls.
The campaign consisted of a video of 25 prominent women – Chilean actresses, journalists, writers, and athletes as well as three women Ambassadors of EU Member States in Chile – reading parts of an original text – Marks of Aggression – written by Chilean writer Jessica Atal. The objective of the text is to reflect on the traumatic consequences of violence – physical and psychological – against women and girls, reaffirm the importance of respect for human rights and act as a support network for vulnerable women.
The European Union Ambassador in Chile, León de la Torre Krais, was also interviewed on the news radio (link is external)Radio Cooperativa highlighting the strong commitment of the European Union to make visible, denounce and actively combat violence against women and girls.
