“Several representatives of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces approached the soldiers gathered at the border positions of the Tegh village with white flags in the afternoon of December 2nd. They announced that those positions are allegedly Azerbaijani positions, and the Armenian side must retreat,” the press secretary of the Syunik province’s Tegh village administration, Arev Abelyan, told Aravot Daily in an interview.
Naturally, the Armenian side did not fall for the provocation. “Our boys told the Azerbaijanis that they are in the right place, and they informed the village leader, Nerses Shaduntsi, about the incident,” Abelyan said.
According to her, the administrative leader of Aravus, Argam Hovsepyan, negotiated in the Azerbaijani language with the opponent. They left, but announced that the “case has not been closed.”
There are seven villages in the Tegh community, which include Tegh, Karashen, Khnatsakh, Khoznavar, Kornidzor Aravus, Vaghatur, and Karashen. The border between Tegh and Azerbaijan is 60 kilometers long.

Despite the fact that the Azerbaijanis gathered in groups and tried to approach different positions with white flags, the Armenian side is not carrying out their requests. “Self-defense units from the Tegh community are gathered along the border, as well as soldiers from the Defense Army,” Abelyan said, adding that, at the moment, Azerbaijanis have also approached another position.
According to her, there is no panic in the villages, and the villagers are going about their daily activities.
“At the moment, the situation is under control. People are in their homes and no one has left the communities. Perhaps no one is even preparing to leave their homes at the moment,” Arev Abelyan said during our phone call.
