Azerbaijan was unable to fulfill its task through the war that began on September 27th, which was to control the entirety of Artsakh, according to Konstantin Sivkov, a member and Vice President of the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences.
In a press conference that took place in the Sputnik Armenia press room, the Russian expert said that he inaccurately evaluated the results of the military operations without taking into consideration the prior conditions of the Armed Forces. He said that Turkish soldiers also participated in the war, which the Azerbaijani chief of staff had also announced, which was why he was removed from his position. Besides that, this information was also shared in Western sources.
“Therefore, I do not think that the Armenian side lost. No army could have achieved more in the conditions in which the Armenian side found itself: fighting against an enemy that has six times the forces,” the expert said, adding that defeating the enemy in defensive battles with such a balance of power, even at the cost of losing part of Armenian territory, is a great feat and victory.
According to the editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, Viktor Murakhovsky, the main heroic defense took place in Artsakh and was carried out by soldiers and officers who were defending their native homeland. Since the defense system of Artsakh was not build effectively enough, it was not possible to predict and prevent the activities of the Azerbaijani army.
