A resident of Berdzor, Nelly Tadevosyan, who left Berdzor a few days ago, is facing uncertainty. She worked for the Kashatagh regional administration, but now she is unemployed in Armenia.
In an interview with Aravot Daily, Nelly said, “We took out four loans. I was paying my children’s tuition and we bought furniture for our house. Now, my house and furniture remained in Berdzor, and the fate of my credit history remains uncertain. The residents of Berdzor are grateful to the people in Armenia for helping our brothers and sisters and providing them shelter. But how long can we be a burden for these people? We can’t find jobs, nor are we eligible for social assistance programs. We are simply surviving. But the fate of my credit history is constantly bothering me. What is going to happen next? They aren’t telling us anything specific; are they going to cancel our loans or postpone the deadlines? If they don’t provide us with loan forgiveness, we will be in a terrible situation. The status of Berdzor has also not been clarified; will the city remain Armenian, or is it Azerbaijani? If it will remain Armenian, then we need very specific guarantees for our safety if we return, which is our dream. They need to develop infrastructure so that people can work. But if it is impossible to return, how are we going to start our lives again from scratch and pay off our loans? The authorities of neither Armenia nor Artsakh are providing any specifics.”
