The head of the Bright Armenia parliamentary faction, Edmon Marukyan, did not get the impression after listening to the viral recording last night that Ilham Aliyev bribed Serzh Sargsyan in exchange for the seven regions.
“I did not get that impression from the recording,” he told reporters in parliament.
Last night, a scandalous recording spread online where former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko were discussing the Artsakh conflict. Alexander Lukashenko suggested that Serzh Sargsyan return the seven regions and, in exchange, Ilham Aliyev will pay him $5 billion in the beginning. Serzh Sargsyan then said that he was prepared to pay Aliyev $6 billion for Aliyev to reject the territories.
By the way, the third President’s office shared a statement regarding this. The office accepted the recording as fact, but it refrained from making any comments since the recording was of a private discussion between two presidents.

“I saved the video. I think it will be a good source for investigation for the committee,” Edmon Marukyan said, adding that they are working to establish a parity committee that will include parliamentary and external forces. The committee will hold balanced investigations of the September war. “We need to wait a little. There will be incidents that will all be investigated by the committee,” he said.
When asked if Ilham Aliyev will present a similar offer to Nikol Pashinyan, Edmon Marukyan responded, “We can allow ourselves to think anything. The committee must invite both Serzh Sargsyan and Nikol Pashinyan. They both need to explain what Aliyev offered that we did not know about. Was that money offered to Serzh Sargsyan personally, or to Armenia? There are many questions.”
Upon the observation that a committee was organized for investigating the circumstances of the April War that did not end up producing any results, Edmon Marukyan responded, “Let me remind you that Serzh Sargsyan ordered the establishment of a fact-gathering group. When Sargsyan saw that the group was obtaining too much information, he closed it. But the materials gathered by the fact-finding group are the basis of the March 1st criminal case.”
