Sargis Melkonyan: ‘All freedom fighters noticed that strange things occurred since the first day of the war’

December 09,2020 18:07

During the Artsakh war, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that traitorous operations took place when speaking about failures. Freedom fighter Sargis Melkonyan demanded that Nikol Pashinyan publish the names of those traitors and inform the public about the punishment that those traitors have faced.

“I was at the frontline on the third day of the war. I am a typical soldier of my nation, and I do not have the right to speak about what took place. But all of the old freedom fighters noticed that strange things occurred since the first day of the war. Namely treason, which could not have been organized by ten people. But the person who presents himself as the commander-in-chief even issued an ultimatum that no one should have any doubts about his ability to lead. He accused people of deserting in order to hide the capitulation agreement that he signed. They’re saying that this has nothing to do with me, those like me, and the Armenian army in general.  In that case, why did you sign the capitulation agreement? As an Armenian soldier, I do not care about whether or not he will resign. I don’t understand, does this country not have a National Security Service, military police, or any other law enforcement agencies? I want prosecutors, military police, and the NSS to operate normally in this country so that civilians don’t fight among themselves. This is an obvious form of betrayal against the nation and the homeland. I don’t know any soldier or freedom fighter like that. But all of us, according to that statement, are traitorous deserters. I demand the following. Nikol Pashinyan needs to answer two questions. He needs to answer the questions of who deserted and what punishment those deserters faced if he is going to use that as an excuse for the degrading document he signed. The main deserter is accusing his army of desertion. And I don’t want to hear the excuse that he was speaking about specific detachments.”

Sargis Melkonyan also said that rumors spread among soldiers from different positions that the Armenian military was preparing to carry out defensive attacks and punishing operations in three directions. But there are many confusing issues for him, such as how and why all of this happened, especially the fall of Shushi, and how the eastern part of our country stopped being Armenian. “What happened? When everything was already moving along, and we all understood that the situation at the front would turn in our favor in around ten days, he does what he didn’t have any right to do,” the freedom fighter said.
