December 10,2020 13:07

The measure to support the families of soldiers missing in action and prisoners of war as a result of Azerbaijani aggression in the September war was passed during today’s session of government. According to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mesrop Arakelyan, the purpose of the measure is to provide assistance to the families of soldiers missing in action during the war that began on September 27th. Assistance will be provided monthly for the next six months. The government will transfer 300,000 AMD to every soldier’s account. The money will be provided by the Insurance Foundation for Servicemen, to which the government will transfer 500 million AMD.

According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, soldiers missing in action are also eligible for the benefits provided by the program. However, since several procedures are outlined for that, which will take some time, changes have been made to the legislation so that soldiers missing in action can also be eligible. “However, since that will take several months, we decided to transfer money from the state budget to the fund so that the families of individuals with that status can receive 300,000 AMD monthly until their status is defined by the fund.”

According to the Prime Minister, the families of prisoners of war are also included on that list so that they can also receive benefits based on those principles.
