Russia is insulted: ‘Everything that was said during the parade, especially the reference made by the President of Azerbaijan, was blasphemous, it was a lie’: Konstantin Zatulin

December 12,2020 12:08

During round-table talks organized by Sputnik Armenia, when speaking about the conflict resolution, the first deputy chairman of the committee of the State Duma for the CIS and relations with Russian nationals abroad, Konstantin Zatulin, said that the Lazaryan Club published a statement about the events that took place on Thursday, where they once again brought attention to the fact that the parades taking place in Baku are not only an insult to Armenia. “Armenia and Russia are allies, and that is why everything that was said during the parade, especially the reference made by the President of Azerbaijan regarding the Second World War, where he tried to find parallels between the fight against fascism and the operations that took place in Karabakh, was blasphemous, it was a lie. It is all subject to criticism.”

Zatulin added that the club’s statement also assessed the reasons why the war took place, why Armenia was degraded, and why Armenia faced a severe crisis. “I think that it is not only Azerbaijan who is responsible for that, but also the Armenian authorities. Russia understands that the agreement was not a final resolution to the Artsakh conflict. There is still the issue of Karabakh’s status, which is a topic for future negotiations. I consider it to be categorically impossible; I consider one of the sides to be unacceptable, and for that side to hold negotiations from the position of the victor. That road will lead to nowhere.” He stressed that Russia, which plays the role of the peacekeeper in Karabakh, will also play that role in future negotiations.
