Relatives of volunteers and conscripts from the Shirak province who were stranded and taken prisoner in the Khtsaberd village of Hadrut recently met with the governor of Shirak, Tigran Petrosyan, and the newly-appointed police chief Aram Ghazaryan at the Shirak provincial administration building. The high-ranking officials of the province informed the relatives that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Onik Gasparyan, will be going to Stepanakert to take place in negotiations with the commander of the Russian peacekeeping troops stationed in Artsakh, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov.
“We don’t need him to go, sit there, eat barbecue, and come back,” one of the relatives said. In response, the police chief asked the relative to not make the situation more extreme.
“Negotiations do not take place by the hour for us to tell you that we will have information by, say, 6 PM. These negotiations will be taking place at the highest level. We cannot give you a specific time right now, but we will let you know as soon as the information becomes available to us,” Tigran Petrosyan said.
