Solving the ecological problems rooted in Yerevan requires complex changes. The municipal organization called “Landscaping and environment protection” has been created with this aim. This organization is now responsible for landscaping and environment protection.
In cooperation with the Department of Nature Protection the organization undertook actions. Currently, about 700 employees are engaged in solving these problems.
Different sorts of trees and bushes are being grown in the city green houses to be planted in administrative districts in spring.
The area of 12 hectares in Saralanji dried out because of damaged irrigation systems. This year a new irrigation network was installed both in this and in other areas. Special machinery for treatment of trees and gardening was purchased as well.
Restoration and protection of green areas, as well as creation of new ones are among the priorities of the city authorities. The formation of the unified organization responsible for landscaping and protection of the environment, installation of bins for waste sorting, new approaches to landscaping are the steps aimed at solving the problems.
