‘You will see Turkish cars when going to Kapan, they have as much authority as we do, and there’s the question of whether or not you will even reach Kapan’: Arush Arushanyan

December 23,2020 21:30

Manvel Paramazyan was invited to the Investigative Committee of Armenia for interrogation. A complaint was filed against him. Arush Arushanyan was interrogated on Tuesday, where he was involved as a defendant.

“Of course, this is political persecution. There is no second opinion,” Arush Arushanyan said, adding, “During the war, both Mr. Paramazyan and I went to Jabrayil on the same day, October 1st, and we were entirely prepared. From September 27th, we informed the army that we are prepared and we can go. In any case, it so happened that we went to the frontlines ourselves on the 1st with around 250 people. More joined later. Let everyone know that some sites are busy spreading satire these days, but you can send in a request. You can find out from both the First Army Corps and the Ministry of Defense that we fought in Jabrayil until the very end. We came back and continued the fight in new positions. Our people stood with honor and fought. A number of our historical territories were in our hands and the people of Syunik were able to hold onto them. But the person who took over the position of Prime Minister and the person who holds the position of Minister of Defense are still unable to give us an answer on how they gave up the lands when nothing was mentioned about them in the signed statement. We don’t know if this was agreed upon verbally or in writing. Our problem is our national security. Can you imagine walking one meter in this direction and coming across a Turk? How are you supposed to stop your children from going outside? How can you send your children to school when there are Turks nearby? The situation in Yerevan is entirely different. Come here and see what is happening for yourselves. And I get the impression from those people who gave away our lands that they don’t care about whether those territories were ours or not, and whether they will be or not. Perhaps we will wake up and see that a verbal agreement was made to hand over yet another village, or maybe he’ll be in a good mood tonight and give them another present. This is the reality.”

Arush Arushanyan said that, when people go to Kapan, “You will come across Turkish cars. They have as much authority as we do. And there’s the question of whether or not you will reach Kapan.”

According to him, the current government does not only know how to use maps, but they do not have “a single drop of patriotism.” “Fine, people were able to hold onto 26 kilometers of land. You couldn’t even hold onto 1-2 kilometers through negotiations?” Arushanyan assured that no statesman has performed any function in Syunik during this period.

Arush Arushanyan also denied rumors that he has businesses that operated abusively.
