During the session of government on December 24th, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the activities implemented to determine the national border in the Syunik Province. According to the Prime Minister, those activities contain some nuances and difficulties.

“But we believe that these activities need to take place. That is necessary from the standpoint of maintaining Syunik’s and all of Armenia’s security,” Nikol Pashinyan. According to him, “We are increasing the guarantees of security in Syunik and all of Armenia.”

“There are two settlements here that can cause some issues to rise. These are Vorotan and Shurnuk. There are some issues with the border here, around which daily activities are taking place. Those problems can cause some painful situations,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister also assured that, in any case, “If issues will arise surrounding the interests of our citizens, the government will offer options for compensation. This compensation will be done in full.”

According to Nikol Pashinyan, a single millimeter has not been conceded from Syunik and Armenia that falls within internationally recognized borders. “During this phase, certain border points are being determined. The purpose of this is to ensure security to provide an effective security system,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that we are facing a new situation, which can cause people to become emotional. “I met with the commander of the Armenian border guard. I gave him specific orders to ensure that all of this is carried out as smoothly as possible,” Pashinyan said.
