Today, President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian received the Chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA) Aram Sargsyan, and the Deputy Chairman of the Heritage Party Gagik Margaryan.

The leaders of the parties expressed their concern about the situation in the country and on its borders, considering it extremely worrying and dangerous. They stressed the urgency of resolving the crisis, noting that in the face of the current threats, the delay could lead to more serious dangers. Expressing that they support the proposal of the President of the Republic to form a transitional government of national accord and to hold extraordinary parliamentary elections, they considered the role of the President of the Republic important in the current situation. They suggested holding a larger meeting to discuss the ways-out of the situation.

Touching upon the presented concerns, President Sarkissian emphasized the importance to resolve the situation legislatively and constitutionally. The President considered important the establishment of state institutions, state thinking and state discipline to overcome the most serious and diverse challenges facing our country.

Touching upon the proposal of meeting on a wider scale, President Sarkissian noted that he was in favour of discussions on any scale, adding that he was ready to make every effort to gather all parties around one table. “Today, of utmost importance is to overcome this situation, and to get out of it with dignity, as a country and people,” said the President of the Republic.
