‘Armenia’s legislation needs to change in a way that makes use of the Diaspora’s potential’

December 26,2020 21:15

One of the founders of the Alliance political party, Ashot Galstyan, considered the issue of security to be the most pressing when he discussed several issues related to the current situation during the party’s special session.

“It is not a secret that our Armed Forces is in need of the latest technology. The issue of our military being armed with fifth-generation technology is being discussed today, and steps are already being taken. Centers that teach drone control are being opened. But we need to look forward and unite with our potential and abilities to create sixth- and seventh-generation military technology so that we can avoid being too late again and so that we don’t suffer as many casualties,” he said.

Ashot Galstyan also spoke about economic development. “According to many analysts, we can reach that goal along with our strategic partner, Russia, on the terms of mutually beneficial cooperation without bypassing other countries that are CSTO and EAEU member states. That way, many problems will be resolved for us at once.”

He brought up several examples. “For example, we can get energy at more affordable prices… That fact alone will have a significant impact on our economy, not to mention security, including the protection of the borders of Armenia and Artsakh by a joint military contingent. And, finally, Armenia’s legislation needs to change in a way that makes use of the Diaspora’s potential with mutually beneficial cooperation. We can bring in competent and experienced leaders to bring the country out of this crisis. That does not mean that Armenia’s own potential will not be used. We just need to use the right professional policies.”
