Commentary of the Information and Public Relations Department on the Resolution of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg

We welcome the unanimous adoption of a resolution on December 24 by the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, in which, while maintaining its unwavering commitment to the spirit of the resolution adopted on October 15 this year, the Parliament of Luxembourg, in fact, condemned the military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh with the involvement of Turkey, and, as a consequence, the military occupation of a large part of the territory of Artsakh and the continued policy of bellicose rhetoric and threats against Artsakh and its population.

We consider it important that in its resolution, the Parliament called on the Government of Luxembourg to demand the access of humanitarian organizations to Artsakh to help address the difficult humanitarian situation in the republic.

It is worth mentioning that the resolution noted the importance of observing the ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners of war and the recovery of dead bodies. The Parliament also noted the need for an independent investigation and prosecution of war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces during the war.

We are convinced that adoption of such resolutions will be a significant collective contribution of the international community to the comprehensive and just settlement of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, based on recognition of the realization by the people of Artsakh of their inalienable right to self-determination.
