EU4Environment supports green policies in Eastern Neighbourhood

January 02,2021 14:23
EU NEIGHBOURS . On 15 December, 2020, the EU4Environment initiative announced the launch of a project aiming to support green policies in the EU’s six Eastern partner countries.

As part of the project, EU4Environment will prepare six analytical country reports (one for each of the Eastern partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) with analyses and assessments of existing and required administrative capacities to support greener economies in the countries.

The reports will focus on the ministries of environment as key players in environmental action and the ministries of economy as the guiding forces behind green economy development.

The reports will present a set of quantitative and qualitative indicators to assess institutional capacities and for comparison and peer learning across countries, as well as recommendations.

The EU4Environement initiative helps the EU’s six Eastern partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) to preserve their natural capital and to increase people’s environmental wellbeing. It is implemented by supporting environment-related action, demonstrating and unlocking opportunities for greener growth, and setting up mechanisms to better manage environmental risks and impacts.
