The parents of several contract soldiers met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Saturday morning. The others were waiting outside of the government building.
“First, we must say that the Prime Minister organized our meeting, prioritizing the seriousness of this issue and listening to the problems we mentioned. It’s not as if they don’t know about these problems. They simply wanted to know what incidents we wanted to speak about, as well as our positions,” the parent of a contract soldier, Suren Sahakyan, told reporters at the end of the meeting.
“We came to an agreement with the Prime Minister that we will have another meeting soon in order to receive answers to our questions,” the parent said.
He said that they are not satisfied because it is still too early to understand the solutions to their problems.

“We spoke about general problems. We will speak about these in more detail after the next meeting, which will take place soon,” Suren Sahakyan concluded, not wishing to provide more details.
Several parents demanded that their sons who were contract soldiers or who fought in the war should be given time off. Other parents wished for their sons’ service to take place in the Republic of Armenia.
