Yerablus is silent, full of pain, and embracing the immortal heroes: ‘We were able to live at the expense of their lives’

January 18,2021 11:10

Yerablur has been full of people since last September. Smoke silently rises from Yerablur. It is silent and full of pain while embracing the immortal heroes. Even the sky there is sad.

People visit Yerablur in silence. From time to time, it is possible to hear the cries of a mother. It is possible to notice the father’s and brother’s tears, and the emotional whispers of the sister and wife to their hero.

They are building ‘homes’ for the immortal heroes. There is a lot of construction taking place. In one place, people are gathering the dried flowers from the graves and placing new flowers in their place. Others bring fruits and chocolate for their son…

Avetis Melkonyan came to visit the grave of his nephew, Artur Khachatryan, this Sunday, January 17th. Every year, Artur wished his uncle a Happy New Year, but from now on, his uncle will come to visit his nephew every New Year. “I brought Artur his favorite sweets and fruit. I cut a pomegranate. The juice mixed in with the soil just like the blood of Artur and all other heroes,” Avetis said.

“I thanked them for allowing us to live at the expense of their own lives. Armenia will live forever thanks to them. Thank you, boys, all of you…” Avetis Melkonyan said, giving thanks to his nephew and all heroes resting next to his nephew.

Captain Artur Khachatryan died on October 20, 2020, in Ishkhanadzor (Jabrayil). There were intense and severe battles in the area. They were waiting for the battles to stop for a moment so that food could be taken to the soldiers at the frontline. Commander Artur Khachatryan did not wait. He said that his soldiers should not remain hungry, and he was already going back when the enemy’s Smerch struck his car.
