“Instead of grabbing Nikol Pashinyan’s hand, you’re feeding society with lies that we will go and trade with Turks and Azerbaijanis, and that we will live well. Go and tell the parents of a soldier who fell prisoner that it’s fine their son is in Azerbaijan. We’ll conduct trade with Azerbaijan, and you’ll live well. Nikol Pashinyan must resign, and that is the only issue we should be discussing in this parliament,” Prosperous Armenia deputy Naira Zohrabyan said during a session of parliament.
Prosperous Armenia deputy Mikayel Melkumyan said that the authorities simply do not understand. “One portion of the Goris-Kapan highway is under Azerbaijani control, and the other is under Armenian control. If the Prime Minister is talking about demarcation, that is not the case. We simply set up positions. What changes as a result of that. It’s under their control. When you travel there, you can fall prisoner. They can shoot at any minute. Who will give us guarantees? Who will guarantee that Syunik won’t be cut off from Mother Armenia in 1-2 hours, and that we won’t also lose Syunik? Do you have the answers to these questions? Of course you don’t.”
Prosperous Armenia deputy Iveta Tonoyan was upset that there is nothing in the parliamentary agenda regarding the fate of prisoners of war, soldiers missing in action, and the security of Syunik. “Instead, there are issues regarding parking places and mental health. Using the same logic, for example, the government can send legislation to parliament on the development of a space program or the population of rhinoceroses.”
She recommended going to the Syunik Province and seeing the danger that our compatriots are facing. “Dozens of communities in the Syunik Province became border villages as a result of the capitulation document that Nikol Pashinyan signed, and they live as a target of Azerbaijani soldiers every day. Azerbaijani soldiers give drivers on the Goris-Kapan highway the throat slash gesture. The residents of Vorotan and Shurnukh are targeted by Azerbaijanis daily.”
