Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) the equivalent of 4000 USD “Disaster Risk Management Preparation” small grant program in the secondary schools of Angeghakot, Shaghat, Shaki and Uyts settlements of Sisian community of Syunik province.
The main goals are to improve the safety of pupils and staff in public schools, to reduce the risk of disasters, to develop knowledge and skills in the field of emergencies, to increase disaster resilience.
The secondary schools of Angeghakot, Shaghat, Shaki, Uyts settlements of Sisian community of Syunik province were equipped with fire panels, first aid kits, stretchers, loudspeakers, evacuation schemes, evacuation conditional signs and school furniture (cabinets, bookshelves, etc.) were attached to the walls to reduce earthquake vulnerability within the framework of the program.
Officers of the planning of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations provided methodological assistance to the secondary schools in the development and implementation of disaster risk management plans.
