On Sunday, Nikol Pashinyan met with the My Step party. As a result, they noted that “the Prime Minister’s suggestion to carry out snap parliamentary elections did not receive a positive response from the opposition, nor is there a widespread demand for snap elections from society.”
Since it’s obvious that My Step is unable to make any decision on its own, the Prime Minister himself made those notes. And the deputies, naturally, were happy about that because such developments solidify their mandates for three more years. In other words, Pashinyan gathered his “subordinates” and announced that he decided not to hold snap elections after all. The deputies applauded with pleasure, saying, “Yes, of course, what a wise decision, now we will find 100 excuses to justify that.” Most likely, they will explain that all discussions regarding the fact that they’re not clinging to their positions were jokes.
Perhaps this may sound strange, but I don’t want snap elections to be held this year if the current authorities will be leading them. In that case, I will seriously doubt the legitimacy of those elections. Besides that, those elections would have a purpose if any political party in the arena offers a solution to this tragic situation, which I have not seen, to be honest. And finally, from my perspective, elections need to promote the country’s development and society’s unification. But that is impossible in today’s environment; new passions that will arise during campaigns can bring about new problems. Pashinyan’s activities as the head of state have always been moving towards scandals and division, and I am unable to imagine how we can overcome that.
If the Prime Minister and his team do not realize the disaster they brought upon our nation and state, if they are able to sleep peacefully at night, and if they don’t see the blood of thousands of people in their dreams, then what can I say? Let them enjoy holding onto their positions and mandates in their failed state.
