“What will the fate of the Vardenis-Martakert route be? The November 9th document clearly states that all transportation routes must be opened. Therefore, the Vardenis-Martakert route also must open and operate,” deputy Taguhi Tovmasyan said during a session of parliament. According to her, this issue must be discussed during negotiations. “That route, which was built thanks to the efforts of all Armenians, now serves Azerbaijan at the direction of Russian peacekeepers. We must be able to use the route with the mediation of peacekeepers.”
The deputy stressed that businesses that opened in the Vardenis region are now under threat of closing due to the fact that the route is closed.
