Five people from Artsakh who became displaced and unemployed as a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 27, 2020, were provided with temporary jobs in Dilijan, where they are staying temporarily.
Through the organization of paid public works, the citizens of Artsakh will be renovating the building and other areas next to the high school in Dilijan for the next two months.
The director of the employment center in Dilijan, Karen Hovhannisyan, told Aravot Daily in an interview that the paid public works program was developed specifically for the residents of Artsakh who needed to find jobs. “This is considered to be temporary employment, and the work is intended to take place over the next two months. At the moment, five people from Artsakh have already begun to work.”
According to Hovhannisyan, more than 40 people from Artsakh have applied to the employment center in Dilijan expressing the willingness to work. “People from different sectors have applied, from teachers to construction workers to agriculture workers. The majority of people who are applying are from Shushi and Hadrut because they are living in temporary shelters and they do not have work.”

According to Hovhannisyan, no one from Artsakh has been provided with permanent employment yet because there are issues with a lack of employment in Dilijan. “However, we hope that as the weather gets warmer, restaurants and fast food joints will have vacancies so that several people will be able to find work.”
