The adolescent group at the ‘Us and Us’ education center in Kapan carried out its first project at the Syunik provincial library. The day of the event was not coincidental; it was Hovhannes Tumanyan’s 152nd birthday and Book Giving Day. Adolescents from different schools in the Syunik Province were at the library who also were students at the art school in Kapan. They were honest with one another in their discussions.
Unlike his peers, Gor Avetisyan does not enjoy reading very much. “I know that it is interesting, and you become immersed in another world. There are many factors, but I don’t like to read very much. They have to ask me to read in order for me to do it,” Gor confessed.
On the other hand, Zhenya Arzumanyan loves to not only read classical novels, but the works of modern authors as well. “We should at least dedicate ourselves to books for one day and give one another books. I have already given my gift,” Zhenya said, adding that she must read every day.

Artyom Zeynalyan was particularly impressed with Prisoners of Hovazadzor by Vakhtang Ananyan. “As I was reading, it seemed as though I was there with the main characters,” Artyom said.
The director of the education center, Sona Melik-Karamyan, makes sure to read when she has free time, and she advised the young students to not waste their time.
The adolescents were divided into two groups and they answered questions about Tumanyan.
What kind of holiday would it be without reciting the works of the “Poet of All Armenians?” The adolescents also recited quartets by Tumanyan, as well as his poems about love and patriotism.
The meeting also included political discussions, which will be discussed in a future article.
