Gyumri to have modernized transportation: New buses have been ordered

March 11,2021 11:30

It was revealed during the Gyumri city council session that Gyumri will soon have new methods of transportation. Mayor Samvel Balasanyan said that the new buses will operate using gas and electricity.

He also said that the Gyumri municipality does not have experience with this, so it will be a difficult issue of how this transportation will operate.

“There are different models. We invited experts who will come and present how many vehicles there will be and what type. We will have approximately 70 bus stops next year. We will have 50 this year, and 70 next year. Therefore, we will have a serious network. We will import around 60 vehicles and electric buses again.

With this fleet, we will be able to take the transportation situation entirely out of its catastrophic conditions. However, we will need to carry out consistent work and correct planning, which will give us the opportunity to finally resolve the issue of Gyumri’s transportation,” the mayor said.

A member of the city council, Levon Barseghyan, said that they must think about maintenance mechanisms prior to ordering the buses.

We will discuss this issue separately after receiving explanations from the Gyumri municipality as far as where these transportation methods will be imported from.

Samvel Balasanyan also said with a smile that Gyumri was also supposed to have aerial transport, but that “fantastic” plan was not implemented.
