On March 14-16 in Vardenis (Vardenis, Verin Shorzha, Nerkin Shorzha and Ayrk settlements) of Gegharkunik province, on March 17-21 in Goris (Goris, Akner, Aghbulagh, Bardzravan, Khndzoresk, Hartashen, Dzorak, Nerkin Khndzorak, Shurnukh, Vorotan, Vanand, Verishen and Karahunj settlements) of Syunik province communities the plans of the disaster risk management were developed within the framework of the second phase of the “Ensuring the development of resilience and security of Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik and Syunik border communities” project implemented in cooperation with UNDP and UN Children’s Fund. The activity was coordinated by the senior instructors of the Emergency Planning Division of the Rescue Risk Reduction Department of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations r/s Lieutenant Colonel Khachik Shmavonyan and r/s Major Khachik Tsogolakya on the spot.
The final development activities of disaster risk management plans are currently in the process, after which the draft plans will be submitted to the heads of the community for approval.
The activities of the assessment and resilient towns plan development of Vardenis and Goris towns were implemented by Armine Hayrapetyan, r/s Major, Senda National Coordinator, the representative of the Rescue Service of MES in other state bodies of RA within the framework of the “Make towns resilient” international campaign.
