Singer Gohar Hovhannisyan dedicated her concert to the mothers who gave birth to heroes.
Singer Gohar Hovhannisyan will perform at the Arshaluys concert on April 7th at the Yerevan Opera Theater. The singer is well-known for her folk and patriotic songs.
In 2008, she won the Best Folk Singer of the Year award at the Golden Star Awards in the United States. In 2009, she released her first album, Arshaluys.
In response to Aravot Daily’s question of what made her choose to sing patriotic music, Gohar Hovhannisyan said, “I did not make a special decision. The reason is probably that my ancestors were from Sasun, and each of our family gatherings was accompanied by national song and dance.”
Regarding her performances for soldiers and defenders of the homeland, she said, “I have always spoken about this. When I perform for them, my sense of responsibility and enthusiasm increases. Every artist has to present national music perfectly. I bow to every soldier.”
Regarding impressive episodes throughout her singing career, Gohar Hovhannisyan said, “Every concert is impressive for me. My first solo concert was especially memorable.”
About the meaning behind the Arshaluys concert, the singer said, “It is difficult for all of us to continue living after facing all those difficulties and losses, so I am trying to show my respect towards the mothers who birthed heroes with this concert. We must believe that we will have a new dawn. The soldiers gave their lives so we can live.”
When asked if she considers herself to be a successful person, Gohar Hovhannisyan responded, “I enjoy overcoming difficulties. But I will be successful when I live in a peaceful country and I do not see any more losses.”
