On March 29th, Captain Ashot Mikayelyan’s son was born. Mikayelyan, who was from Vanadzor; died during the battles in July of 2020. The baby, who was 52 cm and 3.6 kg at birth, was named Davit by his mother, which was what she had decided with Ashot. Both baby Davit and mother Syuzanna are doing well.

The young mother and baby were released from the hospital on April 1st. Ashot’s friends in combat organized a real holiday in the backyard of the Vanadzor Medical Center. They escorted the baby to his father’s house with flowers while singing the Armenian national anthem. “I was very emotional, but I was happy that they kept my husband’s respect and honor high… I wasn’t expecting such a surprise. It was very emotional. I am grateful to everyone. Both of us are doing well, especially since we were received well at home. Everyone is very attentive,” Ashot’s wife, Syuzanna Avetisyan, told Aravot Daily.

Syuzanna said that Ashot found out that he would become a father while he was at the base. Unfortunately, they didn’t get to enjoy the awaited news together. “I wanted to surprise him when he came back from the positions, but I couldn’t wait, and I told him immediately. He was so happy. He was counting down the hours to when he would come home. But our meeting kept getting pushed back, and it never happened, unfortunately.”

The young mother said that she will try to do everything for her son so that he never needs anything. She will be both a mother and father to him. “Motherhood is an eternal calling. It is a feeling that nothing can replace. It’s impossible to find the words to describe it because it is a great responsibility. You realize that there is someone whom you place above your own self. Your every minute depends on their well-being. Happiness and emotions blend together, but I must be strong so that I can be both a father and a mother,” Syuzanna concluded.
