“Holding Armenian captives should become an international headache for Azerbaijan, and we should work for that in every direction- parliamentary diplomacy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I understand that the situation is really inhumane, especially since I have connections with their relatives. It is difficult to make clear statements about it because you are dealing with human emotions. Azerbaijan is politicizing this issue, so our task is to bring it out of politics,” My Step deputy Tatevik Hayrapetyan told reporters.
When asked about what changed for Nikol Pashinyan since he once considered Aliyev to be educated and constructive, but now Aliyev is the aggressor, Hayrapetyan responded, “People take what Pashinyan says out of context… for example, there are people who use the international audience and say that Pashinyan caused the war. That is simply unacceptable. We are working with a fascist state. Are you prepared to accuse your own state of inciting war based on internal political dividends?”
In her opinion, we are constantly trying to find someone to blame within ourselves without understanding that those to blame are in Baku. “We need to understand that we are all in a ship, and if that ship, God forbid, sinks, we will all sink. And it is in our best interests to find the person who can paddle so that we can get out of this situation.”
When asked if Pashinyan can paddle, she said confidently, “Of course he can.” Upon being asked if the results of the war are visible and if it hasn’t been clear by now how he paddles, she said, “But did the results of the war come to be in 2 years? Why are we cutting off history? Aliyev came to power in 2003 and he said that he is preparing for war. Who was in power in 2003?”

Upon the observation from reporters that there wasn’t a war at the time, Hayrapetyan said, “You are willing to blame the government for inciting war, which says something very bad. We entered a deadlock in negotiations when Serzh Sargsyan wanted to run for office a third time. He spoke about that in parliament.”
She said that Turkey was not as large of a factor at the time as it was in 2020, and it is impossible not to accept that. Regarding the news about the return of prisoners, she said that according to her information, there were no clear agreements made about that.
