“We are aware of the Turkish president’s letter and the readiness expressed in it, but actions are important to us, not words, which we have clearly expressed before,” the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ara Ayvazyan, told reporters during a press conference regarding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement on the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide where he said that Turkey honors the memory of the Armenians who died in 1915, and Turkey is willing to develop ties with Armenia. “Similar statements have been made in the past, and there was even a mutual document that did not have a positive continuation. Actions are important to us, not words, and I am reconfirming that,” Ara Ayvazyan stressed.
Regarding the potential participation of an Azerbaijani delegation to the intergovernmental council of the EAEU states between April 29-30 in Kazan, Ara Ayvazyan said, “There is no consensus to invite that country to such an event with any status. I will say that much.”
