Davit Arman Yakovlev is one of the heroes of the second Artsakh war. He, along with other bright young men, became immortal during this war. Meanwhile, he was so young, and he had so many dreams.
Davit was born on June 18, 2001, in Yerevan, and he graduated from the special school named after A. Shahinyan with a specialization in physics and math. In 2019, he was accepted into the YSU Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics. Then, in July of the same year, he was conscripted into the army.
Davit’s grandmother, Anahit Haytayan, said that she is happy that Davit made everyone’s lives happier for 19 years. At the same time, she added, “It is extremely difficult and against nature to speak about someone who did not live for 20 years, who was so full of love and life, and who had many dreams in the past tense…” When she spoke about her heroic grandson, she said that Davit was very intelligent, curious, thoughtful, fair, ambitious, and clean, and he had a beautiful smile.

Anahit Haytayan told Aravot Daily in an interview that Davit never complained about his service. “He always said that they are very safe. He said that they would go through the bunkers to get to their equipment. Then, they would destroy and return. That’s the only thing he told us about the war. He said that we are strong. That was, generally, his favorite word.”
His grandmother remembered that Davit’s questions as a child had a lot to do with astronomy, physics, and engineering, and his conclusions would surprise everyone. “We noticed his mathematical thinking at a very young age. Perhaps that was the reason why math became his element, although he was strong in all subjects. He participated in many Olympiads and won many awards.
It was not coincidental that a student of the Usum school was admitted to and graduated from the Artashes Shahinyan specialized school with a specialization in physics and mathematics after passing exams successfully… Davit was constantly in a rush. He wanted to do as much as possible. It seemed to him that everything was so condensed.”
She added that at only 13-14 years old, Davit was the leader of one of the winning groups at TUMO in robotics. Before he graduated high school, he took specialized courses at the Microsoft Innovation Center and successfully completed a course in Object-oriented programming in C#.
Davit knew the HTML, CSS, C#, PHP, MySQL, and Javascript programs very well, and he won first place in competitions. Many of the programs he created and shared on YouTube, including games, have gotten many likes. “He was happy that he could make money independently, and he bought his mother a watch with his first salary. It is surprising how he became so self-sufficient. Many people in his circle confess that they wanted to be like Davit,” Anahit Haytayan said.
His grandmother said that all of Davit’s friends, including his friends in combat, loved and respected him. He remained united and organized until the end, and he cared for everyone.
Davit died from a Smerch attack along with his 11 friends in combat and commander. Davit Yakovlev was posthumously awarded the Combat Service and Courage medals of Artsakh.
