What will the lists refer to?

May 04,2021 12:14

Now, parties are busy with developing the election lists. People who cannot imagine their lives without a parliamentary mandate, of course, make great efforts today to appear on the lists of parties and blocs that can enter the National Assembly. Because seats are limited, the struggle is to get to the top of the list.

Of course, that is not true for political parties that have no chance of getting in parliament, and they will find themselves in the “political replacement” role. Those parties are not participating for their own personal interests, but to discredit either of the two main candidates- Nikol Pashinyan or Robert Kocharyan. In this case, the lists are not very important; what’s important is to please the patron by insulting the capitulator or the thief.

But there are 4-5 political parties that will be in the future parliament. At the same time, it seems clear that My Step, even if it gets a majority, will not receive the same number of mandates as it has today. I would prefer for the deputies I like to not be included on the My Step list in the upcoming elections; being part of a defeated team is discreditable. But of course, if a person wants to be discredited for the sake of a mandate, that’s their business.

Of course, it is useless to read coffee cups to guess out who is going to be on what list. But when those lists are published, it will be possible to reach several conclusions. For example, if Pashinyan includes unique oligarchs on his list, then that will show that the “best traditions” continue; those with money support the government’s goals, receiving a lot of privileges in their business in return.

Or, for example, if Naira Zohrabyan is not included on the Prosperous Armenia list, that will most likely reflect certain agreements made between that political party and the ruling party. It will also determine how the ruling coalition may be if, of course, the need arises.

Similarly, it will be possible to reach the conclusion that if Serzh Sargsyan does not lead the RPA list, it will reflect the party’s level of seriousness in its intentions.

In addition, it will be interesting to see if any figure “unexpectedly” appears on any passing list. That will not only provide the opportunity to evaluate that politician’s future activities, but their past as well.

… The political elite, essentially, is living with its small passions. To what extent these passions are related to our sad reality is the question. How much the majority of our society realizes the tragedy of the current situation is a serious problem.
