‘I am convinced that the Azerbaijanis will not be pushed back’: Lilit Tumanyan

May 12,2021 21:30

“I am convinced that the Azerbaijanis will not be pushed back. They came with all their troops; this is not simply them moving forward,” a member of the Adekvat political party administration, Lilit Tumanyan, said during a press conference at the Hayeli press club in connection to the developments in the Syunik Province that took place on Wednesday.

According to Lilit Tumanyan, the warnings made by opposition politicians and forces that the Azerbaijanis will not be satisfied with what they have and they will try to gain more territories have come true. She said that it is also obvious that Nikol Pashinyan’s peace, according to which there won’t be any more wars and we will live in peace and harmony, is a lie. The speaker also does not consider it to be a coincidence that Azerbaijan is trying to take advantage of the situation, taking into consideration the situation in the region and the tensions in Palestine-Israel relations.

“This is one of the demonstrations that will always take place as long as we have a government that will always agree and not resist in any way. It will always be in Syunik, but they have already stood at the mouth of Vayots Dzor and Tavush,” Lilit Tumanyan said. She does not rule out the possibility of there being an agreement between Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev that in case Pashinyan’s position weakens during the elections, they will give Pashinyan a chance in the form of tensions in the military situation. “If there is suddenly a military conflict and the CSTO intervenes, martial law will be established in Armenia and the elections will be postponed.”

Lilit Tumanyan said that Nikol Pashinyan had a secret meeting with the Azerbaijani delegation in Kazan, which was not officially confirmed. The information was published in the Russian media, using a non-official site as the source. She does not theoretically exclude the possibility of what happened last July happening again, where a small victory will be ensured for Nikol Pashinyan, which will be seen as Pashinyan’s achievement in order to increase his ratings.

The speaker said that it is believed that the Azerbaijanis are confirming their “red lines” with the Russian peacekeepers. She also believes that Azerbaijan will attempt to get its desired route through Syunik prior to the elections.
