The acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a Security Council session that there are forces which, essentially, are carrying out pro-Azerbaijani activities. “It is obvious to me that there are Azerbaijani informational agents in the Republic of Armenia. We can even say their names. These people invited the president of Azerbaijan to attack the Republic of Armenia in 2020. Before this happened, they showed him the approximate locations where the Republic of Armenia can be invaded. Now, they are spreading Azerbaijan’s propaganda among the Armenian public.”
Aravot Daily asked My Step deputy Artur Hovhannisyan about whether Nikol Pashinyan was referring to the people Hovhannisyan mentioned in his Facebook status, and why the NSS is not doing anything about it if the names are clear. He responded, “Yes, of course. I believe that the Prime Minister does not even need to mention those people’s names. I think they are obvious for everything. I do not want to think that there are literal agents in Armenia. I hope that there aren’t any. Besides that, these people, with their actions, behavior, speech, and the propaganda they push forward, only directly contribute to the Azerbaijani propaganda. Until now, for example, the phrase “Zangezur corridor” has been used by both Aliyev and those people, but no one else. We have never discussed the issue of the corridor and we will not discuss it, as the Prime Minister mentioned today. We have said a thousand times that there is no such thing. These people continue to spread Aliyev’s propaganda in Armenia. Can someone explain to me what the goal is? Or can someone explain to me why they are receiving information from nowhere? Those people cannot receive information about the negotiations process. Those people are not important enough to receive information. They cannot have this information. But if you can imagine something conditionally that they know, why are you sharing it?”
Artur Hovhannisyan believes that the authorities are not providing information to these circles. He is also confident in the Russian side. What remains, according to him, is the Azerbaijani side. According to the deputy, the national security agencies must closely monitor every step of these circles, and it should not be considered persecution.
The former prime minister, Hrant Bagratyan, said that eight villages from the Tavush province will be handed over. Artur Hovhannisyan said that this is ridiculous. Regarding the situation in Syunik, he assured that they are doing everything to resolve the issue through negotiations. “It must be obvious to everyone that we are fighting against the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem.”
