“Taking into consideration Azerbaijan’s behavior, we cannot exclude the possibility of a situation where the issue will be resolved through the use of force. We must do everything to ensure that the issue is resolved peacefully,” My Step deputy Hovik Aghazaryan told reporters during a briefing in parliament in reference to the illegal invasion of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces along the border of Syunik.
Regarding evaluations that the CSTO is waiting around, Hovik Aghazaryan said, “It does not have the problem of waiting around, such incidents… this is a border incident that cannot be immediately considered a military operation. Such situations must go through several stages of discussions in the CSTO, and then they will be given an evaluation. Then, operations will take place.”
Regarding information that Azerbaijan is making preconditions about leaving Armenia’s territory, Hovik Aghazaryan expressed conviction that there are no preconditions. “Azerbaijan’s behavior is that according to their maps, that territory is theirs. But comparing our maps and those in the Russian military base, it is clear that that is Armenian territory.”
