The famous Dendropark is located near the Gyulgarak village of the Lori province. It was founded in 1931 by Polish engineer-forester Edmund Leonowicz. He was the director of the arboretum until 1984. Then, his son took on the task.
The forest was designated as a special protected area in 1998. Hundreds of people from Armenia and abroad want to visit Dendropark. The forest is especially crowded during May and June when the pine trees begin to pollinate.
Hundreds of people rushed to Dendropark early in the morning on Sunday in order to enjoy the products produced in the pine forests during pollination, which has a healing effect, especially for people suffering from respiratory diseases.
Before reaching the park, you have to drive first and then walk through the long lines. Many of the locals selling goods say that the number of people who visit Dendropark grows every year. As for being present during pollination, they said, “It is a matter of luck. If you are lucky that day to see the pollination, you will enjoy it, but if not, then now. It can last a few hours during the day and be finished, or it may not even take place that day.”
