The lights and shadows of the lists

May 27,2021 12:42

Finally, the lists of political parties that will be participating in the parliamentary elections were published. Understanding that we live in a country that needs to have authorities and, in particular, a parliament, prime minister, ministers, etc., I have personal and purely subjective negative attitudes towards any list. What is important for me is “in-divid,” what is not divided, not cut, and not shared. If it is not possible to divide a person into “spare parts,” it is also not possible to put them into a party or “alliance” machine. I am convinced that any person must overcome some internal resistance in order to “stand in line” or “enter the list.”

But, if everyone were to think like me, there would be no states, no wars, no people fighting for power within countries, and therefore, my ideas are utopian and unrealistic, by and large. I just want to say what makes me happy or sad based on my “incorrect” predisposition.

I am happy that the people I like are not on the Civil Contract list (based on the condition, of course, that they would not be given a position in the executive branch). I simply hope that they will be able to get rid of the stigma of belonging to a political team that “secured” defeat in their future activities.

I am sad when I see people I like on ANY list, but especially Civil Contract’s, as well as Civil Contract 2 and Civil Contract 3 lists (I think it is obvious which political parties I am referring to). It is clear that people might have different motivations, and I am not ruling out honest motives. But to connect luck with a government that has no historical perspective (which may be reproduced this time) seems to be a very wrong calculation to me.

I am sorry that business owners have found a place on the Civil Contract list, regardless of my positive attitude towards those two people. The involvement of business owners in politics and, possibly, in government, means a significant departure from the principles of the 2018 revolution and from the propaganda and rhetoric of the opposition during those years. If they were to do the same as the “former” did, why did they beat their breasts?

Finally, I am sad that wealthy individuals are establishing “pretend” forces that will not have any chance of getting elected. But that is not only a characteristic of Armenia.
