There is no future for those who curse

June 02,2021 12:00

The most painful thing I see now on Facebook and on the street are not the mutual accusations and insults of the Nikol and Kocharyan supporters; that is temporary. Do not be surprised, but I consider the mission of the leaders of these two political units exhausted; both the harsh authoritarianism, which, of course, was affected by the cold northern winds, and the revolution that took place for quite positive purposes, which brought about the current chaotic situation, are no more. They cannot determine the future course of our country.

By the way, I think the proposals of the first president of the Republic of Armenia were aimed at removing the former and current four leaders from the arena and paving the way for new, fresh forces. It did not work out that way, and Pashinyan or Kocharyan will probably enjoy power for another 2-3 years. The situation in our country will certainly deteriorate because the mistrust, division, and hatred that are the basis of the policy of these two figures and their teams cannot bring positive results in any area (army, security, economy). In 2-3 years, the direct participation of the four leaders in politics will become insignificant, and, in particular, the notions of “Nikol supporters” and “Kocharyan supporters” will go down in history.

But something else worries me: the frustration, the depression, the lack of real vision for the future, and the lack of vision that I see on Facebook, which is also present in society, and that, of course, will encourage emigration. If ordinary people approach Pashinyan or Kocharyan and cry, “Please, dear king, do not let those Turks come,” or “My dear king, free us from those Turks,” it does not mean that those people have any hopes for the future. Hatred, curses, and destructive passions in general do not guarantee that those who carry them will not pack their bags and try their luck outside Armenia this year, including because their “king” became king.

But I also have noticed the depressed attitudes of smart, well-rounded, educated, and intellectual people, who are also my main readers. They also spread the current deplorable situation to the future. But I assure you, friends, if you continue to live in Armenia and continue to do your job in good faith, then our country will have a future. I think our main task in this situation should be to educate and enlighten people in the broadest sense of the word. It does not have to be on the pages of a newspaper, on a Facebook platform, or in a school or university classroom. If you smile and say kind things to other people, you are already enlightening them. You gave them the light of kindness.
