The Shirinyan-Babajanyan democratic alliance was in the Armavir province on June 7th. The pre-election campaign period began. The third person on the alliance’s list, lawyer Seda Safaryan, began her speech in the Arshaluys village talking about a criminal case opened against the village’s leader. “I was in contact with the head of the community throughout the criminal case. He was involved in a number of episodes in the criminal case, then somehow, as in the case of Robert Kocharyan, he went from being a defendant to a witness, then back to being the defendant, and so on for three or four years. We cannot regulate the status of that person so that he can use legal certainty and understand: in this republic, in this community, can he be the mayor with so many accusations against him? I am sorry that the people I see have such a community leader. I know the reasons: with impunity, with their family in this area, and I am glad that they see you breathing freely. I feel the sense of free speech.”
According to Safaryan, justice was not restored in 2018, and our country’s borders also have issues connected to justice. “I will not explain in detail what happened during the war. What happened is what was supposed to happen if we were unable to publish the details of the March 1st case and see what that group was capable of doing against its own people. We would have understood if they were able to change something in Artsakh, or if they went there to ruin everything at the expense of our children’s bodies so they could brag about what happened that caused our defeat. We all lost because we were not fair, because we have many faults.” Safaryan announced, “There must be so many of us in the National Assembly that we also force the government to do what we are pushing forward. Changes are mandatory. I believe that the people will make the right choice.”
